William Thomas Gimbel, age 81, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on February 20, 2026. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Bill graduated from Father Judge High School. He continued his education at The Studio School of Art and Design and Saint Joseph’s University.

In September 1967, Bill married his sweetheart, Janet, beginning a loving partnership that spanned nearly six decades. He spent most of his adult life in Bensalem, where he was a longtime member of St. Ephrem Church.

In his early years, Bill worked at Rohm and Haas in Bristol as a product designer and illustrator. Possessing a strong entrepreneurial spirit, he later started his own business, and his constant creativity and innovative ideas evolved into several successful ventures.

Later in life, Bill retired to Florida where he enjoyed boating, golfing, and traveling with his beloved wife. An award-winning multi-medium artist, Bill’s work can be found in private collections, corporate spaces, and public displays. He was a member and instructor at the Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda and a member of the Vero Beach Art Club in Vero Beach. He also participated in the Arts in Medicine Program, where he provided a creative outlet and encouragement for individuals undergoing chemotherapy treatment.

A man of deep faith, Bill was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a parishioner of St. Anastasia Parish in Fort Pierce, where he served on the Sacramental Outreach Ministry.

Bill will be remembered for his unique sense of humor and his remarkable ability to bring smiles and laughter to everyone he met.

He is survived by his loving wife, Janet Gimbel; his children, Donna (Rob) Cariola, Bill (Phy) Gimbel, and Karen (Chuck) Asman; his grandchildren, Billy Gimbel, Robby (Melissa) Cariola, Julianne (Kameron) Walters, Chase Asman, Angela (Chris) Sugden, and Casey Asman; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Bella, Amelia, Christopher, Charlotte, Jude, Bobby, Bennett, and Gabriella.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth McLaughlin Hutchinson and William J. Gimbel, and his sister, Bernadette “Bonnie” Reilly.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Bill’s memory to Treasure Coast Hospice.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026, at St. Anastasia Catholic Church 401 South 33rd Street Fort Pierce, FL 34947 at 10:00 AM.
