Wayne H. Smith

Wayne Howard Smith of Fort Pierce, Florida, formerly of Whitesboro, New York, passed away on July 20th, 2025. Wayne was born in Utica, New York, on September 29, 1934, to the late Howard and Grace Smith. After graduating from Bryant College in 1954, he joined the family business, Smith’s Laundry and Dry Cleaners, Inc., in Utica, New York, where he and his late brother Dale continued the business for 36 years.

On August 27, 1960, Wayne married Joyce Dresser of Whitesboro, New York. He is survived by his wife of 65 years residing at Meadowood, Fort Pierce, Florida and four children; son Alan and Amy Carrington of Ebony, Virginia; daughter Holly and husband Calvin Roady of Abilene, Texas; daughter Lisa and Stacia Nautel of Port St. Lucie, Florida; son Kevin and wife Jessica Smith of Cape Cod, Massachusetts; and eight grandchildren, Ryan, Andrew, Ben, Ellie, Tyler, Colton, Jacoby, Derek, and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Wayne will be held at the gravesite on Saturday, Sept 13th, 1:00pm at the Eaton Village Cemetery; 5963 Landon Rd, Eaton, NY 13334. A celebration of life will follow at the home Wayne built with his family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Methodist Church Vero Beach education building fund or a charity of your choice, in honor of Wayne.
