Vero Beach

Bernice Curran, the beloved heart and soul of our family, passed peacefully on December 30, 2025, surrounded by her family and loved ones in Vero Beach, Florida. She was 101 years old.

Born in Indiana on March 24, 1924, she moved to St. Louis, Missouri at just one year old with her parents, Daisy and Leon Rogers, where the foundation of a life devoted to love, family, and service was formed. From the very beginning, she possessed a rare gentleness—loving fully, without judgment, and caring deeply for everyone she encountered.

She fell in love with her high school sweetheart, Bill Curran. After being married for 30 years to the love of her life, Bill’s sudden passing from a heart attack changed the course of her life, but not her strength. With remarkable resilience, she became an independent woman, earning her LPN degree and dedicating herself to caring for others with the same compassion she showed her own family.

In 1985, she moved to Vero Beach, Florida with her children, Billie Lee Sellers, Jerry Curran, and Joan Busch, where she retired. Florida became her cherished home—a place filled with laughter, family gatherings, and the simple joys she loved most. She was the adoring grandmother of 10 grandchildren and the proud great-grandmother of  21 great-grandchildren, each of whom she treasured beyond measure.

Bernice was a faith-filled woman, devoted to God, and her spiritual devotion was a cornerstone of her life. She also found immense joy in the family’s beloved dogs, Lola and Twig, who brought her endless comfort and companionship.

She delighted in golf cart rides, taking in nature’s beauty, visiting the chickens and horses, and enjoying the garden’s harvest. A gifted artist, she found joy in creativity and quiet moments. Part of her daily routine was watching Little House on the Prairie, which reflected her love for family, tradition, and enduring values. Bernice was an avid reader and loved completing giant jigsaw puzzles.

She lived her life in service to others, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and unconditional love. To be loved by her was to be truly known and endlessly supported.

She will forever remain in our hearts—our guiding light, our example, and our guardian angel.
