Thomas Connolly

July 5, 1956 — July 7, 2023

Fort Pierce

Thomas Francis Connolly (Tom)
July 5, 1956 to July 7, 2023 (67 years)
I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness;
I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you.
 Isaiah 42:6

Born the fifth son of William and Ruth (Scott) Connolly (both deceased) of eight children, raised
in Newton, Massachusetts. Brothers: William Connolly, Jr. (Billy)(deceased), Robert (Bob),
Stephen (wife Maura (Fallon), Peter (wife Kimberly (Dettmar); Sisters: Joanne (husband Michael
Matthy, son Christopher Matthy), Karen (husband William Garside, daughter Tai Garside and
son Oliver Garside), Mary Connolly.

Tom is survived by daughter Shannon Connolly Fortunato, her husband, Anthony Fortunato,
their son AJ (Anthony Joseph), daughter Anna Thérèse, and his former spouse and mother of
Shannon, Donna Connolly.

Tom (#032) was an employee of the St. Lucie County Fire Department for 30 years, from 1980
until he retired in 2010 at 54. He worked his way up the “ladder” in the organization, as Junior
Lieutenant from 1989 to 1994, reaching the status of Lieutenant from 1994 to his retirement in
October of 2010.

He bought a condo across from North Beach, where he enjoyed being near the ocean, one of
his favorite places. The family spent many hours boating, fishing, camping, and living the Florida
lifestyle. Tom loved a good round of golf and recently checked the notorious Pebble Beach golf
course in California off his bucket list. In retirement, he made many trips to Colorado to visit his
daughter, Shannon, and her family, relaxing and taking in the Rocky Mountain views, driving up
to the Blackhawk Casino to have a little fun, and playing at different golf courses with his
daughter around the south Denver area.

Shannon was the light of his life, and he would have given her the world if he could. He shared
the same sentiment when his first grandchild, AJ, was born in 2021 and loved him dearly.
Unfortunately, Tom passed away eight days before his second grandchild, Anna Thérèse, was
born. He will be remembered as a doting, supportive, and loving father and a servant of his
community.
