Theresa DiStefano

December 1, 1932 — August 25, 2025

Port St. Lucie

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Theresa DiStefano, on August 25, 2025, at the age of 92. She passed peacefully with her loving daughter at her bedside.

Theresa was the most selfless and loving mother, a woman whose kindness and gentle spirit touched everyone she met. No matter how much pain she endured, she never complained. She was a wonderful listener, never spoke a bad word about anyone, and was loved by all who had the blessing of knowing her. To her family, she was truly the best mother in the world—a constant source of love, care, and strength.

Theresa found joy in the simplest of things. She loved going to the mall, sitting and watching people, waving and smiling to strangers who always became friends. A true lover of dining out, she especially adored Chick-fil-A. If asked if she wanted to go out to eat, she’d be at the door before anyone had a chance to help her. She cherished outings with her son Teddy whenever he visited from out of state, and she enjoyed daily drives, errands, and adventures with her daughter, who was her closest companion and best friend. She especially loved trips to the casino, where her laughter and joy would light up the room.

Family was the center of Theresa’s life. She faithfully cherished the memory of her late husband, Theodore DiStefano, who passed away at only 57, remaining loyal and devoted to him always. She took immense pride in being a mother, and her children will forever treasure the unconditional love she showed them every single day.

Theresa lived a full life in New York before retiring as a university typist. She was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed attending their many functions. She loved dressing up for the holidays and never missed a chance to celebrate. Over the years, she built countless friendships and never once met a stranger who didn’t quickly become a friend.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Deborah; her wonderful son, Theodore; and two sons. She was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband, Theodore DiStefano, and by her son.

Her greatest legacy is the love she gave and the way she made others feel seen, valued, and cared for. The bond she and her daughter Deborah shared was like no other—they told each other many times a day that they loved each other with all their hearts.

Theresa’s kindness, warmth, and unwavering love will live on through the many lives she touched.
