Suzanne "Suzie" Greene, whose kind heart touched the lives of all who knew her, passed away at home on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. On that day, Suzie 's faith became sight, as she entered into the presence of Jesus.
Suzie was born in Louisville, Ky on September 18, 1942, and spent the first portion of her life in Larue County, Ky. Although Suzie was an only child, she was blessed to live near much of their extended family. The family often gathered on Sunday afternoons to visit at her grandmother's farm under the shade of beautiful water maple trees. Suzie later moved to Louisville, Ky and eventually moved to Florida where she spent most of her adult life. Suzie's careers were varied and she retired from the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office in 2005. At that time, Suzie moved to N. Augusta, SC and helped open and operate a homeless shelter for women and children at the Garden City Rescue Mission. Suzie later returned to Fl and lived there until 2024 when she moved to Colfax, NC.
Suzie's adult life included blended families, but she married Elsie Ray "Ergie" Greene, the love of her life, on September 8, 1989.
Suzie was preceded in death by her father and mother, Harold and Clotilde Puckett, and her late husband, Ray Greene. Surviving, are her children Don Marcum (Beth) of Virgina Beach, Va; Pam Mitchell (Mark) of Colfax, NC; Stacey Cason (Kevin) of Ft. Pierce, Fl; Travis Sharpe (April) of Culman, AL; 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Additionally, Suzie leaves behind several "adopted" children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and her beloved dog, Murphy.
Suzie was most recently a member of Glenn View Baptist Church. Her life story was most impacted and fueled by her faith and love for Jesus. Suzie's heart of service literally blessed people around the world, especially mamas and children in need.
Suzie loved her family fiercely. She was our champion, our cheerleader, our greatest prayer warrior. She will be missed dearly, but she leaves behind a great legacy of love and faith that will never be forgotten.
To honor Suzie's heart for serving others, donations can be made, in lieu of flowers, to one of the following ministries which were near to her and her family's heart: Unsheltered International (www.unsheltered.org), Project Sanctuary (projectsanctuary.us) or Mercy and Grace Ministries (mercyandgraceministries.org).
Services will be held at Bethel Baptist Church in Ft. Pierce, Fl on Friday, June 19, 2026. The family will receive friends from 11am-Noon, with the service beginning at Noon and followed by a graveside service at White City Cemetery.
(A celebration of life gathering in NC will be announced at a later date.)
