Robert (Bob) James Ryan

Nov 13, 1942 — Jun 24, 2026

Robert (Bob) James Ryan died on June 24, 2026 at the age of 83. He was born on November 13, 1942 in Queens, New York and married Ellen Kerstein Ryan on December 31, 1991.

Survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Ellen; sons, Michael Ryan, Scott Ryan and wife, Laurie Ryan of Lorton, Virginia, James Ryan and wife, Bernadette Ryan, of East Northport, NY; daughter in law, Maria Ryan Baldwin and husband, Thomas Baldwin of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; grandchildren, Emily Ryan, Griffin Ryan, Autumn Ryan, Aidan Ryan, Brett Ryan, Colin Ryan, Sean Ryan, Ella Baldwin, Matthew Ryan, Katherine Ryan, Christopher Ryan. He was predeceased by his son, Jonathan Stephan Ryan and his parents, Florence (Sweeney) and John Ryan.

Born and raised in Bayside, New York, he resided in Manhattan and Kismet, Fire Island, NY before moving to Port St. Lucie, Florida. Growing up in Queens, he loved baseball and was an exceptional bowler. He was a Graduate of Martin Van Buren High School in Queens, NY and spent his professional years trading foreign securities. Known as Bobby to his wife, Catfish to others, the Mayor, Dad, Pops, and Grandpa “Dukie” by his loving grandchildren.

He was a proud member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and Kismet Volunteer Fire Department. He loved being by the ocean and was also an accomplished fisherman. Bob was a parishioner and a member of the stewardship of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. He was an avid golfer and loved watching all of his grandchildren play sports, especially lacrosse, football and baseball. He was big fan of Notre Dame sports and the NY Mets. Bob loved fine dining at great restaurants with his loving wife, Ellen, and a large “Bobby Pour” of Red Wine, as well as socializing with his friends and family. He could meet you at a restaurant, ball game or bar, and in five minutes you would be his friend. Everywhere he went he knew someone. Bob took pride in his community and gave back as a Coach, Baseball Commissioner, Auxiliary Policeman, Volunteer Fireman, Church Steward and Hibernian.

He could tell you a great Irish story, let you know about the big fish he caught (which is hanging on the wall) and how that fish gets bigger and bigger. He would love to tell stories about his wonderful sons and his even more wonderful grandchildren. Bob loved and cherished his family. It brings the family comfort to know that he is with his son, Jonathan and is finally at peace.
