Robert Black, Sr. passed away peacefully January 2026, surrounded by family.
He was born in Fort Pierce in October 1940 and was a lifelong resident.
He was predeceased by Beverly Barker Black, the love of his life, after 46 years of marriage. Also predeceased by his daughter in law, Brenda DeWitt, grandson Robert DeWitt, granddaughter, Mary Beth Rowe and great grandsons Noah DeWitt and Dylan Etheridge.
He served in the United States Navy and worked as an auto mechanic, retiring from Bellsouth after 25 years.
He loved to fish and enjoyed a good fish fry. He was an avid NASCAR fan with his favorite driver being Bill Elliott. He loved his family and will be dearly missed by all.
He is survived by daughters Lawana Brown (Wylie), Sabrina Black, Barbara Watkins (Patrick), Tina Drake (Duane) and Melissa Black; sons Dexter DeWitt, Carl DeWitt (Val) and Gil Black; 3 sisters, 31 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 13 great-great- grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Haisley Funeral Home, 3015 Okeechobee Road, Fort Pierce, FL 34947.
Donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
