Richard Hood

Richard Hood Richard Hood, 86, passed away on June 20, 2025, in Hobe Sound, Florida.

He was born on April 7, 1939, in Jasper, Florida, to Barney and Melbry Rimes. Richard was a graduate of Dan McCarty High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy as a member of the Seabees. Following his military service, he enjoyed a long career with Flowers Bakery until his retirement.

Richard had a passion for model airplanes, loved fishing, and treasured time spent with his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Ann Hood of Hobe Sound, FL; son, Glenn Hood of Fort Pierce, FL; daughter, Sherry Schroder of Fort Pierce, FL; brothers, Tommy and Calvin; granddaughters, Melinda Siegal of Old Town, ME and Sabrina Schroder of Fort Pierce, FL; great-grandchildren, Lance, Kristina, and Isabella; great-great-granddaughter, Kiara; and nephew, Steve.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Melbry Rimes; his first wife, Shirley Griner Hood, his brothers, Jessie, Carl, Russell, and Charles Rimes, and sister, Margaret Hood.

A gathering to remember Richard’s life will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at 3:00 PM at the Haisley Reception Center.
