Port St. Lucie

Renate S. Shyroky, 84, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, formerly of Park Ridge, New Jersey, passed away suddenly yet peacefully at her new home on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.

Renate ("Renee") was born in Germany on October 3, 1941, to the late Gustav and Irene Elfriede Wayand. At the age of 19, she immigrated to the United States with her husband in 1960, beginning a new life and becoming a proud American citizen.

Renee and her husband owned and operated two delicatessens, one in Hillside, New Jersey, and another in Norwood, New Jersey, for many years. She was a devoted wife to Christian H. Hoops for 17 years until his passing in 1978. As a young mother of three sons, Renee continued to support her family by working tirelessly in both family businesses.

Renee experienced the heartbreaking loss of her middle son, Eric C. Hoops, who passed away at the age of 19 in 1985.

She was blessed to find love again and married Michael Shyroky in 1986. Mike swept her off her feet with his smooth dance moves, and together they enjoyed volunteering at Oktoberfests and participating in many community activities. Renee was a loyal and loving wife to Mike for 39 years until his passing in 2024.

Known for her longtime involvement with the Golden Age Club of Park Ridge, New Jersey, and the Woodcliff Lake Senior Club, Renee was always the first on the dance floor. She took great pride in her appearance, was an elegant dresser, and loved decorating her home and celebrating every holiday in style.

Renee is survived by her sons, Nicholas Hoops of Park Ridge, New Jersey; Christian A. Hoops of Port St. Lucie, Florida; and stepson Ron Shyroky of Clifton, New Jersey; as well as her granddaughter, Erika Shyroky of Clifton, New Jersey. She is also survived by her brother, Werner Wayand and family of Germany, and her sisters-in-law, Anke Hoops and Petra Hoops, also of Germany.

A private graveside service will be held at a future date at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, New Jersey.
