Peggy Lorraine Thomas, 90, affectionately known as “Aunt Peg” to her nieces, nephews, and many others who loved her, fell asleep in death on August 3, 2026. A longtime resident of Fort Pierce, Florida, she leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, generosity, and unwavering devotion to Jehovah.

Peggy was the ninth of twelve children born to the late Henry and Minnie Thomas and was raised in Long Branch, New Jersey. At age ten, on August 9, 1946, she was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, beginning nearly 80 years of faithful service.

After marrying on June 29, 1957, Peggy entered the full-time ministry as a regular pioneer on October 1 of that year. In December, she and her husband were invited to serve in the circuit work. Although she had hoped to serve as a missionary in a distant country, Jehovah blessed her with the privilege of traveling extensively throughout the United States, including Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.

During her years of service in the southern United States, Peggy faced the challenges created by segregation, yet she remained devoted to preaching the good news and helping others learn the truth from God’s Word. Despite personal disappointments and deep losses, she never allowed hardship to weaken her faith or determination to serve Jehovah.

Peggy loved sharing in the ministry and taking others with her. She encouraged her Bible students and spiritual brothers and sisters with kindness, practical help, and genuine love. Her generosity was evident in thoughtful cards, personalized leather-bound Bibles, and annual trips to visit and care for her parents.

Her home was a place of warmth and hospitality. Peggy had a gift for making people feel welcome and quickly treating them like family. She loved to travel, rarely met a stranger, and was remembered for her beautiful smile, warmth, and sincere interest in others. Her faith and loving example enriched the lives of many spiritual children and grandchildren.

Peggy was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Minnie Thomas, and eleven siblings: Julia, Henry, Minnie, Margaret, Cornelius, Rosa, Harold, Fred C., Charles, Ann, and Paul. She leaves to cherish her memory four sisters-in-law, Coralee Thomas; Norma Thomas of Port St. Lucie, Florida; Ruth Thomas of Long Branch, New Jersey and Sharleen Thomas of Fort Pierce, Florida; nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews; cousins; extended family; beloved spiritual children and grandchildren; and many dear friends.

Peggy’s favorite scripture was Romans 8:35-39. She remained faithful to Jehovah until the end and continued sharing that hope and proclaiming his name literally to her very last breath.

The family of Peggy Thomas sincerely thanks everyone for the love, prayers, kindness and support shown to us during this difficult time and throughout the years.

We are especially grateful for the many calls, visits, comforting words and practical support. Aunt Peg cherished her family, friends, spiritual brothers and sisters and all those whose lives she touched. Your love and friendship meant so much to her and bring great comfort to us now.
