Patricia Mary Kathleen (Baker) Leichssenring (90), of Port St. Lucie, died peacefully at The Lynch Pavilion Hospice, Fort Pierce, Florida on 27 January 2026.
Patricia was born in Burnt Oak, Edgware in Middlesex, England on 16 February 1935. She was the fifth child born to parents Albert Edward and Ellen Marian Baker.
Patricia attended Goldbeaters Secondary Modern school in Edgware, London until she was 16 years old. In the early 1950s, Patricia began working as a pharmacist assistant for Boots the Chemist on Watling Avenue; where she wore a white coat and maintained a professional, high-service approach behind the counter. In 1960, Patricia moved to Fort Worth,Texas to be with her cousin Barbara and husband Gary Harbath.
When Patricia was a young girl in England, she studied music to prepare as a concert pianist. Her sister Margie frequently recounted, “Patricia played beautifully”. She also enjoyed ice skating, singing, and dancing. Patricia loved meeting new people and making friends. She had a green thumb and could propagate many types of plants that occupied every surface of her home. She loved family, animals, road trips, and traveling to new destinations.
Patricia’s recollection her first date with her future husband, Frederick Heinz Leichssenring, “Our first meeting was on the 19th of June 1960. We were introduced on a Sunday afternoon by Dee and Al Quintavale. It was a beautiful day, very hot and we went swimming at Eagle Mountain Lake. Boy did we get sunburned!”
Patricia was preceded in death by husband Frederick Leichssenring of Middlesex NJ, parents Albert Edward and Ellen Marian Baker, brothers Burt Baker and Danny Baker, Sisters Glad Ankin and Marjorie Turley of London England, grandson Colin Dent of Australia, and great-grandchild Lucca Isaiah Mori of Port St. Lucie.
Our dear mum is survived by seven children, Vanessa (Alan) Dent, Katherine Porter, Tina (John) Stokes, Marjorie (Lester) Jefferson, Susan Brown, Freddie Leichssenring (Carol), and Nancy (Gary) Poffenbarger; ten grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren. Patricia is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and array of family friends.
A celebration of life was held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, Texas.
