Ofelia Gonzalez-Avila, 89, of Port St. Lucie, Florida passed away June 24, 2022.
Ofelia was born October 14, 1932 in Havana, Cuba. She was joined in marriage to Fernando Gonzalez at the Santa Maria del Rosario Catholic Church in Cuba.
Ofelia was a loving and wonderful wife to Fernando for 66 years, before his passing in 2019. A dedicated mother and grandmother, she will be greatly missed by her daughters, Maria Winsco, Clara Gonzalez, Ofelia Betancourt and Teresa Andrade; grandchildren, Col. Tony Marante, David Marante, Michael Betancourt, Daniel Betancourt, Steven Andrade and Henry Andrade; great-grandchildren, Isabella Marante, Alexis Marante, Bethany Betancourt, Matthew Betancourt, and Cooper Andrade. Her siblings, Rafael and Enrique Avila will also mourn her passing. She was predeceased by her precious, young son, Martin Gonzalez.
Ofelia was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking for her family, putting together puzzles, and playing dominoes. Ofelia was a devout Catholic and attended Mass regularly.
Ofelia was greatly loved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed by friends as well as extended family.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2022 from 4:30PM to 6:30PM with a prayer service to be conducted at 5PM at the Haisley Tribute Center 2041 SW Bayshore Blvd Port St. Lucie, FL. A Funeral Mass will be held at Chapel of our Lady of Guadalupe, 11691 NW 25th Street, Doral, FL at 10:30AM on Thursday, July 7, 2022, before she is laid to rest at 12PM at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery in Doral, FL.
