Norma's early years in the workforce were spent as a secretary. After her first marriage failed, she moved to Jamaica's North Coast and became a secretary to the manager of the Runaway Bay Hotel. This was the start of a very successful career in Jamaica's Hospitality lndustry. She moved up the ranks going from one hotel to another, becoming an Assistant Manager, then Resident Manager, and eventually secured the position of Director of Sales at the lntercontinental Hotel in Ocho Rios. ln 1978, she left this position to migrate to the US to join her husband, Trevor. Norma, Trevor and their children Melvin, Michelle, and Sean (Norma's stepson), settled in New York where Norma initially reverted to using her secretarial skills for employment so that she would have time for her young children. After a few years, however, she was employed by the Chemical Bank, NY, where she was trained to become their Sales Manager. ln 1989 while working at the bank, Norma experienced a bank robbery at gunpoint. This led her to resign her position and move to Florida where she once again became very successful over time, choosing to become a certified Real Estate Agent. She worked for a number of Real Estate companies including: REMAX Ltd, Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate, and Real Living Realty. She retired from Real Estate in 2004.
