Nancy Long Crowe Bergenroth

October 10, 1940 — September 10, 2025

Fort Pierce

Nancy Bergenroth, 84, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, and moved to Fort Pierce as a teenager, where she attended Dan McCarty High School. She quickly found her place and made lifelong friends with her trademark bubbly personality.

Nancy’s first job was at St. Lucie County Bank and she later devoted many years to raising her children as a full-time homemaker. There were always many other kids at the house as well, and they loved hanging out because she was so funny and kind to them. Once her children were teens, she returned to the workforce as a skilled bookkeeper, eventually retiring from The Reef Ocean Resort in Vero Beach.

She had a zest for life and a love of simple pleasures — bowling, reading, tackling a good puzzle, FSU football, and savoring a well-made Manhattan were among her favorites. And oh boy, did she love those slot machines at the casino!

Nancy never met a stranger. Whether she was sitting next to someone on a park bench or standing in line at the store, you would walk away knowing her life story and feeling like an old friend. Her circle of close friends spanned more than fifty years, and the tales of their many adventures could fill a book or two.

Nancy’s warmth, humor, and unshakable kindness touched everyone she met, and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughters Jeanne Crowe Bailey, Cindy Crowe, her chosen daughter Tracy Langel, stepdaughter Yvette Spitzley (Joe); grandchildren Kelly McSwain, Kaitlyn Newton Cerda, and Erica Spitzley; great-grandchildren, Kaylanah Newton and Andrew Cerda Jr.; as well as her brothers Jack Long and David Long. We will forever carry her spirit in our hearts.

She was predeceased by her parents Dale and Helen Long, her husband Ted Bergenroth, son Richard “Buzzy” Crowe, grandson Michael Newton, grandson-in-law Andrew Cerda and her siblings Billy Long, Bobby Long, Betty Benson, Janet Kimberlin, Carolyn Bailey, and Rose Bailey.

A visitation will be held at Haisley Funeral Home located at 3015 Okeechobee Road, Fort Pierce, on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 10:00 am, followed by a service at 11:00 am and a reception afterward.
