Michael “Mike” S. Greene, 80, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025. Born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and raised on his family’s farm in Robersonville, North Carolina, Mike lived a full and generous life of faith, service, family, and friendship.

A proud alumnus of Wake Forest University, Mike earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business before serving his country honorably as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army. Following his military service, he dedicated his professional life to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, where he served as Director of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS). His leadership, integrity, and steadfast commitment left a lasting mark on his colleagues and the communities he served.

Mike’s devotion to family was the heart of his life. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, mentor, and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Marston Greene, and later by his second wife, Fran Roberts Greene. He was also preceded in death by his father, Claude L. Greene, and his mother, Marjorie Shepherd Greene.

He is survived by his sons, Michael T. Greene, Timothy M. Greene and wife Andrea; his cherished grandson, Marston John Greene; his sister, Toni Stephens; his niece, Vanessa Kunkel (Ted); and his nephew, Joshua Stephens (Laura).

Outside of his professional life, Mike embraced his passions fully. He was an avid gardener and fisherman, loved to cook and bake, and filled his home with the aroma of his creations. Music and sports were lifelong joys, and he approached every day with a deep appreciation for the gift of life itself.

Those who knew Mike will remember his warmth, generosity, and unwavering optimism. He had a way of making everyone feel valued, whether through a shared story, a hearty laugh, or a home-cooked meal. His legacy is one of kindness, strength, faith, and the quiet but enduring impact of a life well lived. Mike’s presence will be deeply missed, yet his spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A viewing will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 12, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2011 S 13th St, Fort Pierce, Florida, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Fellowship will follow the service.
