Mary Yarbrough (Campbell) Stacey, 81, of Fort Pierce, Florida, and most recently residing in DeLand, entered her heavenly home on September 6, 2025. Born on February 29, 1944, in Fort Pierce, she was a rare leap-year baby.
Mary was the daughter of the late James Mack Yarbrough and Thelma Stokley Yarbrough. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 20 years, William Stacey, the love of her life; her youngest brother, James Gary Yarbrough; her oldest sister, Norma Wigglesworth; and her stepchildren, Carla Settles and William Stacey Jr.
She attended Stranahan High School in Fort Lauderdale before graduating from LaPorte High School in LaPorte, Texas. Mary spent most of her adult life in Fort Pierce, where she built a long and successful career as a citrus broker with H&S Citrus. After marrying William Stacey, she moved to DeFuniak Springs, Florida, where they shared many happy years together before his passing.
A devout non-denominational Christian, Mary lived by her favorite scriptures, Psalm 91. She especially cherished Psalm 91 for its promise of God’s protection and refuge, finding comfort in the assurance that He would watch over her and her loved ones through every challenge. To Mary, its words of safety and divine guardianship were more than scripture—they were the foundation of her faith and the heartbeat of her life of prayer and love.
Mary loved fishing, camping, and traveling, creating unforgettable adventures for her family. Summers in the Florida Keys were filled with fishing poles, tents, and laughter. She also planned an extraordinary six-week cross-country trip, taking her children to see America’s wonders—from the Giant Redwood Forest, Pacific Coast Highway, Route 66, Yellowstone National Park, Grand Canyon to Mount Rushmore, Old Faithful, a complete tour of Washington DC and Elvis's Graceland. She didn't miss a lick. Her home was always alive with her creative spirit, whether decorating for Christmas with lights that rivaled the Griswolds, building haunted houses in the garage, or hosting friends who quickly became family.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Cindy Campbell McConaghy; her son, James Clifton Campbell; her stepdaughter, Regina Wyatt; her siblings, Vadas Jay Yarbrough, Maxine Guillory, and Rachel Yarbrough; three grandchildren, Bradley as she would call him, Jessica and Kristen; two great-grandchildren Mallory Grace and Raelynn Marie.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025 from 12:00-1:00 PM with a service to follow at 1:00 PM at Haisley Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Fort Pierce.
