Maria Del Carmen Gonzalez, lovingly known as “Mita,” passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025, in Port St. Lucie, Florida. She was 63 years old.
Born on September 23, 1961, in Vega Alta, Puerto Rico, Mita built a life rooted in compassion, resilience, and devotion to family. She later moved to Connecticut, where she graduated from Bassick High School, and went on to dedicate more than 40 years of her life as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Through decades of tireless care, she touched countless lives with her warmth and selflessness.
Mita’s world revolved around her family. She is survived by her daughters, Betsy Ramos of Palm City, FL, and Alba Yadira Ubiles of Bridgeport, CT; her son-in-law, Enrique Ramos; her beloved grandchildren, Victoria Marie Ramos and Noah Kaleb Ramos, both of Palm City, FL. Her presence as a mother and grandmother was steady, joyful, and full of quiet strength.
She also leaves behind her sisters Andrea Rivera of Kissimmee, FL, Rosa Rivera of Derby, CT, and Maria Del Rosario Arguedas of Bridgeport, CT; her brothers Juan Gonzalez of Meriden, CT, Wilfredo Gonzalez of New Smyrna, FL, Osvaldo Gonzalez of Bridgeport, CT, and Rafael Gonzalez of Orlando, FL; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who adored her.
Mita found joy in life’s simple pleasures; puzzles, crime shows, trying new restaurants, and, most of all, time spent laughing and talking with her loved ones. Her kindness, loyalty, and sense of humor were constants in the lives of those who knew her.
Mita's legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her. She was a caregiver in every sense; devoted, gentle, and strong. She will be deeply missed.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 30th, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Haisley Tribute Center, 2041 Southwest Bayshore Boulevard, Port Saint Lucie, Florida.
