Margarita “Mago” Mendez

Margarita “Mago” Mendez, 91, of Fort Pierce, Florida, passed away on August 27, 2025.

Born in Mexico, Mago made Fort Pierce her home, where she built a life centered on family, faith, and love. She was a devoted member of San Juan Diego Pastoral Center. Known for her warmth and generosity, she especially loved cooking for her family and friends—her specialty was the beloved traditional dish, mole. She also had a passion for gardening and loved flowers.

She is survived by her children: Graciela Aguilar of Fort Pierce, FL; Eva Aguilar of Fort Pierce, FL; Virginia Mendez of Colorado; Guillermina Mendez of Colorado; Margarita Gonzalez of California; Rosa Dorado of Fort Pierce, FL; Salvador Mendez of Fort Pierce, FL; Maria Fernandez of Fort Pierce, FL; Cristina Herrera of Fort Pierce, FL; and Julio Mendez of Fort Pierce, FL. She also leaves behind 27 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.

Mago was preceded in death by her husband, Salvador Mendez; her father, Rogue Licea; and her mother, Maria Aguilar.

Services: Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Haisley Funeral Home Fort Pierce, followed by a funeral mass 1:00 PM at San Juan Diego Pastoral Center in Fort Pierce. Interment will take place at White City Cemetery.
