Margaret Elnora Crooks

Margaret Crooks, age 100, passed away May 16, 2026, at her home in Jensen Beach surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Judson, Indiana on October 10, 1925, and raised by her grandparents on a farm where she proudly learned to milk cows. After High School, with a scholarship provided by her church, she attended and graduated from Fort Wayne Bible Institute in Fort Wayne, Indiana; Johnson Bible College in Knoxville, Tennessee; and Christ Hospital School of Nursing in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she began her nursing profession.

After the death of her beloved husband, Joe, she and her two young daughters moved to Fort Pierce, Florida in 1969 where she continued her nursing career working for the three local practices of Dr. Corneille, Dr. Cassimally, and lastly Dr. Subramanian. Her patients all adored her and fondly referred to her as “MC” throughout her career.

She was a dedicated member of Southside Christian Church for over 50 years where she was proudly devoted to her church family.

Survivors include her daughter, Julie Crooks Welker (Rick) of Jensen Beach, Florida; 3 grandchildren, Rick Welker III (Victoria) of Jensen Beach, Stephanie Cordell of Tallahassee; Natalie Davis (Landon) of Tallahassee; 6 great-grandchildren; and her son-in-law, Gary Strom of Port St. Lucie.

She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph Dale Crooks, daughter Sue Ann Crooks Strom and stepbrothers Jim and Keith Alexander.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Southside Christian Church, 3822 Edwards Road, Fort Pierce, Florida on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 11am.
