Keith Augustus Daley was born on February 28, 1941, in Kingston, Jamaica, to parents Vernal and Ivy Daley. He was the seventh of ten siblings, Sylvester, George, Bernice, Violet, Joyce, Epsie, Delores, Barbara, and Angela.
Keith had a natural athletic ability and he excelled in sports. He played soccer and cricket at Kingston Technical. He also stood out in track and field, running the 200 and 400 meters, and excelling in high jump and long jump. His speed and accomplishments earned him the nickname "Bullet" among his peers. While he attended Boston College in Kingston, Keith held the college high jump record for several years. There, he discovered his passion for math and science, which became two of his favorite subjects.
After college, Keith's first job was with Grace Kennedy and Company, where he honed his skills and gained the respect of his peers and employers. In 1961, he married his high school sweetheart, June. Keith welcomed three sons, Rohan, Robert, and Damion and one daughter, Llana. In 1970, Keith and his family migrated to New York, where he went back to school to complete bookkeeping courses. He then became gainfully employed and continued working as a bookkeeper until his retirement in 2011.
Keith was known for his love of sports, particularly tennis, which became his favorite pastime in his later years. He would spend hours watching Venus and Serena play. Additionally, Keith got quite animated discussing sports and politics with his children. He also enjoyed a good game of Spades or Dominoes. Keith loved being in the company of his grandchildren and was elated when they visited him. Keith’s grandchildren recall his keen sense of humor. He was always ready to give them a good laugh with his jokes. Moreover, Keith remained humble and always maintained an unassuming attitude towards life. He enjoyed the simple things in life, such as good food, watching sports, and playing card games.
Keith is survived by his first love, June, his children Rohan, Robert, Damion, and Llana, his stepdaughter Trevine, beloved daughter-in-law Phyllis, son-in-law Kirk, 15 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 4 sisters, Epsie, Delores, Barbara, and Angela, numerous nieces and nephews, several extended family members, and dear one, Corah.
