Kaye DeLong Leslie, age 94, passed away on October 15, 2026.
Kaye was born on December 12, 1931 in Warren, Pennsylvania to Pearl and Francis DeLong. She grew up in Warren and lived there until she went to nursing school. She graduated from the school of nursing at the Women’s Christian Association in Jamestown, NY. She moved to Fort Pierce, Florida and worked at Fort Pierce Memorial Hospital where she met the love of her life, Grover Cleveland Leslie, Jr. They were married on June 12, 1959 at First United Methodist Church of Fort Pierce.
Kaye is survived by her three children, Melanie (Sid) Leslie Cave, Jeanne (David) Leslie Martin, and James Francis Leslie; and her three beloved grandchildren, Stephen Michael Cave, Douglas Austin Martin, and Katherine Jean Cave. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Cleveland Leslie, parents, Francis & Pearl DeLong, and siblings, Don, Jean, and Linda.
Kaye was a dedicated nurse all the way through her life, even when she wasn’t actually working at a nursing job! She served others in a variety of ways through Girl Scouts & Boy Scouts, her church, helping her neighbors and friends. In many ways her number one job was being a mother and making sure that her children always had the love and guidance they needed.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Kaye’s name to the First United Methodist Church to support the spread of Christian love and grace.
A service to celebrate Kaye’s life will be held on Friday, October 23, 2026 starting at 1:00-2:00 PM with a service to follow at 2:00 PM at First United Methodist Church, 616 Orange Ave, Fort Pierce, FL. Burial will follow at White City Cemetery.
