June 4, 1960 — November 9, 2025

Port Saint Lucie, Florida

Kathryn “Kathy” Almade, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose warmth, dedication, and kindness touched everyone who knew her.

Born to Walter Blair and Matilda Dickson in Murrysville, Pennsylvania, on June 4, 1960, Kathy married the love of her life, Fred Almade, on July 28, 1984, in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Together Fred and Kathy built a beautiful life, first in Florence, South Carolina, where their three children were born, then in 1995, they made Port Saint Lucie, Florida their home.

Kathy graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science from Indian River State College in 2017. She devoted more than 30 years of her life to education. From 1984 to 1995, she worked for Florence School District 1 in Florence, South Carolina. After moving to Port Saint Lucie, she proudly served in the office at the Saint Lucie Public Schools District Office, and for the next 22 years, she worked as the school secretary at Saint Lucie West Middle School. She loved her work and took immense pride in supporting her principals, teachers, and students, as well as taking photos to capture it all for the school's yearbook. Her warm smile and steady presence made her an integral part of the school community and a trusted friend to all.

Outside of work, Kathy found joy in supporting her family and being part of the activities they loved. She enjoyed keeping score at basketball games, spotting for Fred during football season, and spending countless weekends at her daughter Alicia’s cheerleading, dance, and gymnastics competitions. She also cherished trips to Saint Augustine, Florida, where she loved watching her son wrestle and play football for the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind.

Kathy and her family were passionate fans of the Miami Hurricanes and frequently traveled to games, especially in support of her oldest daughter Ashley, while she was in school. Kathy enjoyed relaxing by her pool, reading a good book, and being with her beloved pups Rain, River, and Crosby. She adored her granddaughter Autumn and treasured the moments they shared together.

Kathy is survived by her husband of 41 years, Fred; her daughter Ashley, son Andrew and daughter-in-law Joy, and daughter Alicia; her granddaughter, Autumn; and the pups, Rain, River, and Crosby. She will be remembered for her loyalty, her sense of humor, and the love she gave so freely to everyone around her.

A celebration of life will be held at Haisley Funeral Home, 2041 SW Bayshore Blvd, Port St. Lucie, Florida 34984, on Monday, December 29th, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations may made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Kathy’s favorite charity.

Her family takes comfort in knowing her legacy will live on in the lives she touched through her kindness, her dedication to education, and the deep love she had for her family.
