With aching hearts we share with you Kathleen Davenport, (Kay), passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 28th, 2026. She was born on June 11th, 1942 in Carlyle Illinois.
She is survived by her husband and partner of 60 years, Bill Davenport, her daughter, Laura Davenport, and her sister, Lyn Shipp.
Kay was an educator for 45 years, retiring in 2010. During her career she was a high school teacher, guidance counselor, school psychologist, and director of Student Services for the St. Lucie County school system in Florida. She was also a guidance counselor for the Scottsdale Unified School System in Scottsdale Arizona. She received her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Florida Atlantic University in 1997.
Kay loved singing with community choirs both here in Florida and in Arizona. She loved playing cards and hanging out with our daughter Laura and her husband Gary, She loved playing Mahjong and board games with her friends. She loved reading, doing crossword puzzles, watching Jeopardy with Bill every night, and she really loved her dogs, Max, Maggie, and Maya, all Dobermans.
Kay believed in giving back, she volunteered at Treasure Coast Hospice every Friday consoling families and patients. She was a bell ringer for the Salvation Army and supported many other causes
