KATHLEEN “KITTY” BLANDFORD
Fort Pierce – We are sad to announce the passing of Kathleen “Kitty” Mary Blandford 57, of Fort Pierce, Florida. Kitty, as she was affectionately called, passed away on May 23, 2023 at Treasure Coast Hospice House. She was born September 12, 1965 to Dennis Blandford and Patricia Maley Blandford at Fort Pierce Memorial Hospital.
Kitty attended St. Anastasia Catholic School until the fourth grade. Then she attended St. Lucie County public schools until she graduated from Indian River Community College Practical Nursing Program in 1990. She was a home health nurse for several years following her graduation.
After her nursing career, Kitty worked in various places over the years. She also enjoyed her volunteer time at Creature Safe Space. Kitty was a lover of nature and animals. Her favorite past time was to spend her time on our local waters boating and fishing with her brother Alan and sister Amy. Kitty loved to dance and socialize so you could find her on the dance floor with her sister Beth at the club. Kitty also enjoyed travel adventures with her mom. They would often venture off in the motor home to various state parks anywhere from Florida to Tennessee. They would talk for hours about the day’s events or the animals they encountered. Kitty also loved to read.
Kitty was deeply loved and a treasured member of her family. Sadly, addiction gripped her in the early years and would not release her. Despite her wanting to live, her addictions not only robbed her of a beautiful life as a contributing member of society, but it also robbed her family of valuable time and memories. Despite her struggles, Kitty could always be found with a huge smile on her face and a laugh in her heart.
Kitty is survived by her mother Patricia Maley, siblings Amy Blandford Waldron (Scott), Beth Blandford Casey (William) and Alan Blandford (Melissa). She is also survived by nieces Patricia Casey, Amy Casey, Beth Ann Casey and Kate Casey and nephews Scotty Waldron, Jonathan DeWitt (Sydney Albritton) and Blake Baltos (Catherine). Kitty was predeceased by her father, Dennis Blandford.
Services will be held at Haisley Funeral Home in Fort Pierce, Florida on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at 11:00 am. Visitation will be from 10:00am – 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Creature Safe Space. A private reception to immediately follow at the home of Alan & Melissa Blandford.
