Judith Merlyn Grein passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026, after a long battle with cancer. Judith was born April 24, 1944, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Israel Kamins and Leah Joseph. Judith married Gene Grein on December 14th, 1963, in Santa Monica, California.
Judith had a Master of Art in psychology from State University of New York at New Paltz. She worked with children, elderly and was a researcher at University of South Florida. She was an avid genealogist researching her and her husband’s family trees. Judith was also a second-generation Girl Scout and troop leader. Her other hobbies included stamp collecting, gardening, refinishing furniture, and travel.
Judith is survived by her husband Gene Grein of Sebastian, Florida; her daughter Rachelle Benken and daughter-in-law Amber Benken of Sebastian, Florida; her son Ian David Grein of Los Angeles, California; her daughter Jeanine Grachuk and son-in-law Andrew Grachuk of Norfolk, Massachusetts; and her grandchildren Albert Kranz of Orlando, Florida; Rebecca Chaya of Nashville, Tennessee; and Lauren Grachuk of Amherst, Massachusetts, and step-grandchildren Ethan and Ryan Hinkley of Sebastian, Florida.
Burial services will be held at 11 am on Friday, August 14, at Beth El Memorial Park, Fort Pierce, Florida. Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to JewishGen (www.jewishgen.org) by mail to the “Museum of Jewish Heritage,” 36 Battery Place, New York, NY 10280.
