Juan was known to everyone as a warm, talkative, and genuinely caring person who never met a stranger. He had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcome and valued, and as a result, he was blessed with countless friends across all stages of his life.
A natural caretaker, Juan devoted more than 15 years to lovingly caring for his parents, a role he embraced with selflessness and unwavering dedication. His compassion extended far beyond his family. He was deeply involved with the Special Olympics as a swim coach, where he shared his love of swimming and encouraged athletes with patience and enthusiasm.
Juan had a lifelong love of the water. As a youth, he swam competitively, played basketball, and later worked as a lifeguard. His passion for swimming stayed with him throughout his life and shaped many of his friendships and volunteer efforts.
Academically gifted, Juan won an international science fair during his high school years. He was a proud graduate of John Carroll High School and went on to earn his degree from the University of Central Florida. Professionally, Juan built a successful career in the restaurant industry, rising to the role of general manager. Outside of work, Juan embraced life fully. He loved to cook—and was very good at it—loved to eat, travel, and cruise, and could often be found enjoying a game of blackjack. He had a special affection for animals and took great joy in their companionship.
Juan was an active member of St. Mark’s, a proud member and board member of the Fort Pierce Sportfishing Club, and a brother of Sigma Chi Fraternity. These organizations reflected his love of faith, fellowship, and community service.
Above all else, Juan cherished his family. He was especially close with his nephew Evan, and his role as uncle was one he held with pride and deep affection.
