Joseph Gibeley of Port Saint Lucie, Florida passed peacefully into eternal life on July 16, 2025, with his beloved wife of 33 years, Dawn, by his side. He was 70 years old and faced cancer with remarkable courage and strength.
Born on September 8, 1954, in Lynn, Massachusetts, Joseph, known lovingly as Joey, grew up surrounded by the deep bonds of a large family. He was one of thirteen siblings, raised with love, humor, and resilience by his parents Robert and Dolores Gibeley. He graduated from Masconomet High School in Boxford, Massachusetts and continued his education at Worcester Academy in Worcester, Massachusetts and the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, Massachusetts, laying the foundation for a long and respected career in construction management.
Joseph worked throughout Florida as a project manager, overseeing the development of high rises, shopping centers, and assisted living facilities. He was a true professional, admired by colleagues and contractors alike, and earned multiple awards for his leadership and integrity in the field.
In retirement, Joseph found joy in the natural beauty of Port Saint Lucie. He loved being on the water aboard his cherished boat, The Beggars Banquet, taking trips out to the Gulf Stream with family and friends. His Sundays were dedicated to golf with his close group of friends, fondly known as the “Caddy Shack Crew,” a tradition he treasured.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Dolores Gibeley and by his sisters Amy Ogden and Cindy Gibeley.
He is survived by his devoted wife Dawn Gibeley and his stepson Paul Lunga of Chesapeake, Virginia. He also leaves behind a loving extended family: Estelle and Robert Colgan of Cummaquid, Massachusetts; Jeff Gibeley of Peabody, Massachusetts; Wendy and Adam Werner of Otisfield, Maine; Beth Gibeley and Ron Nordin of Gloucester, Massachusetts; Alison Gibeley of Gloucester, Massachusetts; Alan and Christina Gibeley of Ipswich, Massachusetts; Mark Gibeley of Haverhill, Massachusetts; Melissa Gibeley of Swampscott, Massachusetts; Stephanie and Matt Maloney of Topsfield, Massachusetts; and Monica and Todd Sunderland of Bluffton, South Carolina.
Uncle Joey’s legacy lives on through his twenty-nine nieces and nephews and nine great nieces and great nephews, who were all touched by his love, laughter, and steady presence.
The visitation is being held on Thursday, July 24, 2025, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Haisley Funeral and Cremation Service Tribute Center, located at 2041 Southwest Bayshore Boulevard in Port Saint Lucie, Florida, followed by a memorial service at 5:00 p.m.
