John "Ian" Souter

John “Ian” Souter, 85, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2026. He was born on March 9, 1941, in Edinburgh, Scotland, to John Souter and Margaret Ross.

Ian attended high school in Edinburgh, Scotland, before beginning a life that would take him across the Atlantic. He proudly served in the United States Army and later worked as a plumber, building a career through hard work, dedication, and skill.

On December 4, 1973, Ian married the love of his life, Dinora (Garcia) Souter, in Westport, Connecticut. They shared more than five decades of marriage and created a life together filled with many memories and cherished moments.

Ian had many interests and passions that brought him great enjoyment throughout his life. He loved golf, music, movies, watching sports, and following the stock market. He especially enjoyed going to the horse track and was a tremendous pool player. Those who knew Ian will remember not only his many interests, but also the personality and spirit he brought to the people and activities he enjoyed.

Ian is survived by his beloved wife, Dinora Souter, of Port St. Lucie, Florida; his brother-in-law, Felix Garcia, of Port St. Lucie, Florida; two nieces in Edinburgh, Scotland; a niece in Cromwell, Connecticut; a nephew in Centerton, Arkansas; a nephew in Orlando, Florida; and their families.

He was predeceased by his parents, John Souter and Margaret Ross, and his two sisters.

Ian’s life was one of perseverance, dedication, and many interests that made him uniquely himself. He will be deeply missed by his wife, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will remain in the hearts of those who loved him, and the many moments shared with him will be treasured always.

Rest in peace, Ian. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
