John Hall, lovingly known to many as Poochie, was born on November 25, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois. He departed this life peacefully on December 21, 2025, in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
On February 14, 1983, John united in marriage with the love of his life, Sandra Hall, in Chicago, Illinois. Together, they shared more than 42 beautiful years of marriage, building a life rooted in love, faith, and family. From their union came two children, six grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter, all of whom were the pride and joy of his life.
John was known for his warm smile, caring heart, and unwavering dedication to his family. He had a way of making those around him feel seen, heard, and valued. His presence brought comfort, wisdom, and joy to many.
John received his education through the Chicago Public School System and later earned his college degree from ITT Technical Institute. He devoted his professional life to helping others, serving as a substance abuse mental health counselor and director. His work was more than a career—it was a calling, and his impact will be felt for years to come.
In his free time, John found peace and happiness on the golf course and tending to his yard, which he often described as his “praying time with God.” These moments reflected his deep faith and appreciation for life’s simple blessings.
John leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife and best friend, Sandra Hall; his children, Lashawn (Ken) Cooksey of Port Saint Lucie and Alfonso (Erin) Cooksey of Port Saint Lucie; six grandchildren, Aaliyah Cooksey, Corey Brown Jr., Sandra Brown, Christianna Brown, Devonte Brown, and Christian Brown, all of Port Saint Lucie; and one great-granddaughter, Wynter Wingfield of Port Saint Lucie.
He is also survived by his siblings, James Jordan Jr. of Mississippi, Linda Jordan of Mississippi, and Pastor Shirley Hall of Chicago, Illinois, along with a host of nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Jordan; his fathers, Ollie Hall and James Jordan; and his brothers, Samuel Morrison and Robert Hall.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the pallbearers for their love and support:
Devonte Brown, Mark Patterson, Clarence Allen, Michael Patterson, Fenton Patterson, Carl Hall, and Robert Howell.
John Hall’s legacy of love, service, and faith will live on in all who knew and loved him.
