John Anthony Bickunas, age 79, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026. Born on March 13, 1947, in Plainfield, New Jersey, John lived a life marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors and the simple joys of life.
On January 29, 1972, John married the love of his life, Debra L. McCall. Together they shared more than 54 years of marriage, building a family and creating countless cherished memories.
John is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Debra Bickunas; his children, Erik A. Millner (Colleen) of New Jersey, Michael A. Bickunas of Florida, and Amy E. Bickunas of Florida; and his beloved grandchildren, Maddox Bickunas and London Gomes, who brought him great pride and joy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony D. Bickunas; his mother, Dorothy McDeed Bickunas; his brother, Bruce Bennett; his sister, Marilyn Bird; and his brother, David L. Bickunas.
John attended Cranford High School in New Jersey and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Following his military service, he enjoyed a successful career with Lucent Technologies as a Bell Technical Designer Draftsman, where he was respected for his skill, dedication, and strong work ethic.
An avid outdoorsman, John was a longtime member of the Rod and Gun Club of Cranford, New Jersey, Pequest Fisheries, and the New Jersey Wildlife Conservation community. He found peace and enjoyment in fly fishing and spent many happy hours pursuing his passions for coin collecting and stamp collecting. His love of nature, history, and craftsmanship reflected his curious mind and appreciation for life's details.
John will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering loyalty to those he loved, and the many lessons he passed on through his actions and example. His presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Though he has departed from this earthly life, the memories he created and the love he shared will remain in the hearts of those who loved him forever.
A Visitation will be held at Haisley Tribute Center, 2041 Southwest Bayshore Blvd., Port St. Lucie, Florida 34984 on June 2, 2026 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm and a Service to follow at 3:00 pm.
