Janet Sims Darrow, 94, completed her earthly journey on May 21, 2025 at Treasure Coast Hospice in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Janet was a lifelong resident of the Amboy/Camillus, New York area and enjoyed her winters in Fort Pierce, Florida, where her friendly, fun-loving nature brought her many friends from all over the East Coast of the United States and Canada.
Janet drove a school bus for 21 years and loved the company and antics of the children from kindergarten through high school. She was a graduate of Solvay High School and a member of the Amboy Belle Isle United Church in Amboy, New York. Her creative spirit was fully realized in her painting, guitar playing, singing and quilting. Janet was a force of nature and in her 80’s worked on her bucket list by zip lining, winning a fishing contest against the men and white water rafting, always eager and ready to learn new things.
Everyone who knew Janet loved her positivity and her joy for life. She will be missed by many.
Janet is predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Arthur Darrow, son, Kevin Darrow, and her very special friend, Peter Dery’ of Quebec, Canada; She is survived by her sons David (Natalie), Thomas (Susan), James (Iraida Casa), and daughter Lori Sponable (David); seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on June 30, 2025 at Amboy Belle Isle United Church. Contributions may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice, 5090 Dunn Rd, Fort Pierce, FL 34981.
