Janet Sue Bergen passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on September 10, 1940, Janet lived a life centered around faith, family, kindness, and caring for others.
On July 4, 1959, she married the love of her life, Richard Dean Bergen, and together they built a beautiful family and life filled with cherished memories.
Janet is lovingly survived by her daughter, Ronna D. Perry of Ft. Pierce; her son, John R. Bergen of Port St. Lucie; and her beloved grandchildren, Tyler A. Bergen Stuart, J. Kevin Perry Jr. (Dhanisha) Ft Pierce, Kara Bergen (Izzy) of Ft. Pierce, and Hannah D. Fuentes (Nathaniel) of Ft. Pierce.
She was also blessed with great-grandchildren who brought her endless joy: Aiden B. Sinclair, Josiah Ruiz Jr., Roman B. Fuentes, J.P. Perry III, Shiloh E. Ruiz, Miles D. Fuentes, Ryder R. Perry, and Aniston D. Fuentes, all of Ft. Pierce. Sister, Carol L. Salmon of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; Richard Lindquist (Theresa) of Woodbury, Tn. along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard D. Bergen; her parents, Richard and Clara Lindquist; and her son-in-law, J. Kevin Perry Sr.
Janet attended Woodbridge High School in Woodbridge, New Jersey. She was a faithful member of Remnant Church in White City, Florida, and later attended Discovery Church in Ft. Pierce. She was also a proud member of the White City Improvement Club.
Janet had many passions in life. She was well known for her baking, especially her famous chocolate chip cookies that family and friends always looked forward to. She was an avid seamstress for many years, lovingly sewing clothes and costumes for her children and grandchildren and loved working in her yard. Over the years, she generously supported charities including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Shriners, the VA, and the Humane Society.
A lifelong animal lover, Janet had a special place in her heart for all animals — from her horse Buck, to many beloved dogs, cats, birds, and especially her cherished companion Milo.
Janet will be remembered for her warm heart, gentle spirit, unwavering love for her family, and the comfort she brought to everyone around her. Her legacy of love, generosity, and devotion will live on through all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers family is requesting donations to be made in Janet's memory to VITAS heathcare.
A celebration of life will be held on June 15, 2026 at Discovery Church at 4441 South 25th Street Fort Pierce at 11:00 AM with a reception to follow at White City Improvement club at 1006 W. Midway Rd., Fort Pierce 34982.
