Jane E Rowley, 85, passed away on October 25, 2025, in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Ms. Rowley was born in Yonkers, NY, and resided in St Lucie County for 47 years.
Ms. Rowley spent her time in New York teaching Ceramics in her private studio and as a Homemaker.
Following her move to Florida in 1979, with her husband Eugene and family she became a Florist, opening The Flower Cart and Gift Shop in Port St. Lucie, went on to own E&J Traditional Services, and JARO Catering, becoming infamous for her Shrimp and Crab Dip, which brought in hundreds of dollars at auctions for local nonprofits. Jane was elected to the Port St Lucie City Council in 1996 and served one term. After leaving City Council, she was approached to run for Mayor but stated she had more power in front of the desk than behind it. She became an outspoken advocate for public issues in Port St Lucie and St Lucie County. Jane, a/k/a The Queen of St Lucie, was awarded the Key to the City in January of this year for her ongoing contributions to Port St Lucie.
She was employed by Core Communities, headed up West Fest and Managed Townhall and Friday Night Food Trucks in Tradition. She was Public Relations Director for Dyer Chevrolet, Port St Lucie Hospital and Recovery Insurance Adjusters. She sat on many boards throughout St Lucie County including IRSC Board 15 years, Past President of Chamber of Commerce, Treasure Coast Hospice, St Lucie Medical, PAL of Port St Lucie, head Mum for the Red Hat Purple Dress Society and was a Founding member of the St Lucie County Hundred Club, just to name of few.
Jane was always the life of the party, whether showing up in a bizarre costume for the Chamber Adult Spelling Bee or playing Mrs. Claus at many events throughout St Lucie County. Known by many by her alias as The Original Trashy Broad and Street Walker, which many aspired to be (Stephanie Morgan). Men beware at many functions that Jane attended with her signature bright red lipstick, for fear they were going to be her next victim. Jane was one of a kind and forged many lifelong relationships and friendships throughout St Lucie County.
Jane was known to be a foodie and truly enjoyed exploring the local restaurants with her Monday and Thursday evening dinner group as well as her long-standing Tuesday morning breakfast group. Dining with Jane was a true experience, not for the weak of heart.
It’s not easy to say goodbye to someone that was so entrenched in our personal lives and our community as Jane was. Someone that loved her community with all her heart. She will be missed dearly, but we all have so many wonderful memories that will never be forgotten.
She is survived by her son Gene Rowley of Fort Pierce, FL and her sister Carol Zall of Port Orange, FL
Services: Celebration of Life to be held, December 14, 2025, at the Mid-Florida Event Center from 1 until 4pm.
The family requests donations to be made to St Lucie County Humane Society or Treasure Coast Hospice.
