James Joseph “Jimmy” Kiernan January 9, 1936 – May 8, 2025

James Joseph “Jimmy” Kiernan, 89, of Fort Pierce, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2025.

Born on January 9, 1936, in Englewood, New Jersey, Jimmy lived a life full of love, service, and generosity. He made Florida his home 71 years ago, where he became a beloved figure in his community. He devoted 41 years of his life to Bellsouth Telephone Company and served his country as a proud member of the National Guard.

Jimmy had a passion for the simple joys in life—daily walks, reading, and spending time in his yard, especially raking leaves, which he considered both a hobby and a source of peace. A skilled handyman and woodcraft enthusiast, he was known for his beautiful holiday lawn ornaments, bringing Christmas cheer to all who passed by.

Deeply devoted to his faith, Jimmy served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Mark’s Catholic Church. His generosity and wisdom left a lasting impact on everyone he met. A strong believer in "paying it forward," he was always ready to share advice, especially about finances, and lived a life of integrity and kindness.

Jimmy cherished his neighbors, lovingly calling them “Jim’s Tribe,” and was equally cherished in return. His presence was a source of strength and unwavering friendship to all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Frances (David) Rhinesmith of Jupiter, FL; son-in-law, Dana Martin of Winter Park, FL; brother, Frank Kiernan of Rochelle Park, NJ; grandchildren, Kirsten (Danny) Bibona of Rancho Mission Viejo, CA and Marcus Martin of Chuluota, FL; and great-grandchildren, Colt and Carter Bibona.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathryn Kiernan, and daughter, Theresa Martin.
