Fort Pierce

James “Jim” Wayne Franklin, 70, of Fort Pierce, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026. Born on October 30, 1955, in Cleveland, Ohio, Jim spent much of his life in Brunswick, Ohio before relocating to Florida in 2006, where he continued to build a life centered around family, hard work, and the things he loved most.

Jim was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Nancy Franklin, and a proud father and grandfather. Family meant everything to him, and he took great pride in the life he built alongside those he loved. Whether sharing stories, lending a helping hand, or simply spending time together, Jim’s presence was a constant source of strength and comfort.

A skilled mechanic by trade, Jim had a lifelong passion for all things automotive—from antique classics to the latest models. He found joy in the garage, where he not only worked with his hands but also passed down valuable life lessons to his children and others fortunate enough to learn from him. His love for motorsports and deep loyalty to Ohio State football and the Cleveland Browns were just a few of the many things that brought him happiness.

Jim will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his compassionate heart, and his willingness to help anyone in need—often said to be the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back. His kindness, wisdom, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Franklin of Fort Pierce, FL; his children, Daniel (Jessica) Franklin of North Port, FL, Angela M. Franklin of Los Angeles, CA, and Benjamin W. (Jenna) Franklin of Seffner, FL; and his cherished grandchildren, Danielle C. Franklin, Anna Mae Franklin, and Silas Franklin.

Jim was the eldest of eleven siblings and is survived by six: Joy (Richard) Bruner, Kyle H. (Kathy) Franklin, Robin Franklin, Tracy J. (Cheryl) Franklin, Kimberly R. (Patrick) Furlong, and Loren P. (Jennifer) Franklin.

Jim’s legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the lessons he shared, and the love he gave so freely. He will be forever remembered and dearly missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Jim’s memory to Treasure Coast Hospice.
