Jacqueline Marie Newell Cirou passed from this world and was reunited with her Maker on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at her home in Port Saint Lucie, Florida. She died peacefully at home, in her sleep, in the tireless and loving care of her youngest daughter, Julia and her husband Barry.
The eldest of their five children, she was born in Miami, Florida to Floyd and Genevieve Newell on June 10, 1936. Two of her brothers, Floyd Jr. ( Buddy) and Michael Newell preceded her in death and she is survived by her sister Rita Diane Ford and brother Richard Newell.
“Jackie” graduated from Coral Gables High School and was later married in Miami to Fredrick T. Cirou on August 17, 1955. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She is also survived by her 5 children, Martin Cirou, Melissa Cirou-Armstrong, Angela Strong Bowman, Cecilia Blackwood, and Julia Cirou Halleck, who are all grieving the loss of her compassion, and unconditional love and support.
Jackie was truly a selfless individual who lived a simple life, immersed in nurturing her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The result was a life filled with the love and affection of both her immediate and extended family. Many wonderful memories of her gentle kindness will always be treasured in the hearts of all who knew her.
Her grandchildren are Aaron Cirou, Benjamin Cirou, Lauren Meeler, Caitlin Cirou, Kimberly Armstrong, Raymond Armstrong, Christina Reyes, Daniel Strong, Gabriel Bowman, Vincent Alfau, Mathew Alfau, and Brandon Halleck. Jackie’s great-grandchildren are Wyatt Cirou, Hudson Cirou, Alison Meeler, Owen Meeler, Theodore Owen Ayres, Morgan Melissa Ayres, Zachary Reyes, Tyson Reyes, Michael Alfau, Liam Alfau, Logan Alfau, and Sophia Alfau.
At her request, she will be cremated and no formal memorial ceremony will take place. However, she will be present in our hearts and minds at all future family gatherings.
