It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerard Charles Hennis Sr (Jerry) who departed this life on November 14, 2025, at the age of 88. Jerry was born on August 4,1937 in Millville, New Jersey to Claude and Mary (Simon) Hennis

Jerry was a loving husband, father, and Pop Pop whose family meant everything to him. He is survived by his devoted wife Rita Testa of 30 years, his four children Jerry (Denise), Bob (Kathy), Kath Lou (Joe) and Julie (Robert), 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, Brother Claude and several nieces and nephews.

Jerry graduated from Vineland High School, Vineland New Jersey in 1956, following graduation he proudly served in the U.S. Army stationed in Fort Meade, Maryland. In 1966, Jerry opened Hennis Construction Company, which he owned and operated both in New Jersey and Florida for over 50 years. Jerry owned several businesses through the years including a Steel Business and the Lions Dens Bar. After spending most of his life in Vineland, New Jersey, Jerry with his family relocated to Fort Pierce, Florida in the early 1980’s.

Jerry was an avid antique collector from toy trains, antique furniture, depression glass and his most elaborate collection was his model trains. His model train collections were displayed on an entire floor of his house for viewing. Jerry was a die-hard Philadelphia Eagles fan, never missing watching a game.

Jerry most cherished moments were at spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren at family gatherings, where he got to witness the next generation grow up and continue his family’s legacy.

Jerry’s love for his family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. His legacy will live on forever.

The family request in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Moffitt Cancer Center or American Cancer Society.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2025 from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM with a service to follow at 1:00 PM at Haisley Funeral & Cremation Services, 3015 Okeechobee Road, Fort Pierce.  Burial will be held at White City Cemetery at 3800 Sunrise Blvd. Fort Pierce, FL.
