Garna Wayne Stewart

January 3, 1951 — May 21, 2026

Fort Pierce

It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of a truly remarkable man — a kind and gentle soul whose presence brought comfort, warmth, and quiet strength to everyone who knew him.

Garna was born on January 3, 1951, in Payne Gap, Kentucky. At the age of five, his family relocated to Fort Pierce, Florida, where he would remain until he was called home to be with the Lord.

A man of many trades and talents, he dedicated more than 50 years to owning and operating his upholstery shop, where his craftsmanship, creativity, and attention to detail earned the respect and admiration of countless customers, friends, and family. His work was more than a profession — it was a reflection of the pride, care, and integrity he carried throughout his life.

He had a deep love for cars and a natural gift for creativity, always finding joy in working with his hands and bringing ideas to life. Whether restoring, repairing, or building something new, he approached every task with patience, skill, and determination.

Though quiet in nature, his kindness spoke volumes. Gentle, dependable, and sincere, he was the kind of man who left a lasting impression without ever seeking attention. To know him was to love him. A true reflection of the goodness and humility that defined the way he lived his life.

He will be remembered not only for the work he did, but for the calm spirit, generous heart, and unwavering character he shared so freely with others. Above all, he took great pride in being “Papa” to his grandchildren — a role he cherished deeply and carried with endless love and devotion. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the memories he created, and the love he leaves behind.

Garna was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Gale Stewart; his father, George Stewart, and mother Georgia Stewart; his brothers, Gerald, Gary, Glen, and Grandal; his sisters Glenna Sue, Greta Joe, and Griselda.

He is survived by his children, Trampas Stewart (Connie), Garna Wayne Stewart Jr. (Rebecca), Brandon Stewart (Luciana) Sherron Mello (Joaquin), Chelsea Stewart, and Rachel Mathurin (Eric); his grandchildren, Alex, Brandi, Brianna, Luna, Angel, Dominic, Mikell, Violet, Gabriel, Lennox, and Mason; his great grandchildren, Fernando and Santana; and his surviving siblings, Gregory Stewart, Gail Stewart (Jerry), and Gina Stewart (Mark).

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always cherished.

In honor of some of the last words he shared 'Be good to one another'.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026 at 3:00 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. The family will announce the Celebration of Garna's life at a later date.
