Mrs. Burkhardt was born in the Bronx, New York, where she attended Theodore Roosevelt High School, and later made her home in Port St. Lucie, Florida. She dedicated 20 years of service to the purchasing department at Carnival Cruise Line in Miami.
Edie was a devoted parishioner of St. James Catholic Church in Miami and later St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Port St. Lucie. She enjoyed watching her favorite soap operas and listening to music by Bruno Mars.
She was known for her loving and kind spirit, and for her special gift of making everyone around her feel safe and cared for. Her greatest joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a devoted and proud NANA whose love for them knew no limits.
She is survived by her children, Troy, Jennifer, Juliana, Jason, and Jeremy; and her cherished grandchildren, Hailey, Sarah, Stephany, Kylie, Ahliyah, Ahlyis, Dominic, Analiese, Sarinna, and Jaden.
She was preceded in death by Ralph E. Burkhardt and John J. Hernandez.
She was loving and kind and had a way of making everyone feel safe and cared for. We love you, MOM—you will always be with us.
Her family will forever carry her love in their hearts.
