Ernie Schelin, 63, passed away on January 2, 2026, in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Ernie was born on January 29, 1962, to Eric and Tydfil Schelin in Greenport, Long Island, New York. In 1971, he moved with his family to Fort Pierce, Florida, where he spent the majority of his life and built lasting friendships within the community.
Ernie worked at Atlantic Building Materials for over 20 years and was also the proud owner and operator of Schelin Marine. A true outdoorsman, he was an avid fisherman who found peace and joy on the water. Above all, Ernie cherished time with his family. He loved to talk, never met a stranger, and would help anyone in need. Known for his infectious laughter and larger-than-life personality, he could always make others smile. He checked in with his family daily, was a master multitasker, loved life wholeheartedly, and never liked sitting still.
He is survived by his wife, Michelle Browning of Fort Pierce, Florida; daughters, Allie (Andrew Brady) Schelin of Fort Pierce, Florida, and Jessica (Tony) Borges of Fort Pierce, Florida; sons, Ben Kimbriel IV of Vero Beach, Florida, and John (Tiffany) Browning of Fort Pierce, Florida; grandchildren, Emerson Brady, Riley Borges, and Bella Borges; sister, Gail Schelin Sheets; brother, Lennert Eric Schelin; along with many nieces, nephews, and three aunts.
Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, Eric and Tydfil Schelin, and his nephew, Lenny Schelin.
