Edward L. Van Steenburgh, born May 7, 1935, in Albany, New York, passed peacefully in his sleep on September 20, 2025, at the age of 90.
On September 1, 1956, Edward married the love of his life, Janis, in Osakis, Minnesota. They shared nearly seven decades of unwavering partnership and devotion. Edward is survived by his cherished wife, Janis A. Van Steenburgh; his son, John F. Van Steenburgh of Huntsville, Alabama; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and his beloved sister, Rose Dolan of East Greenbush, New York. He was preceded in death by his daughters, Linda R. Edward served with honor in the United States Air Force for 21 years, including courageous duty during the Vietnam War. He later worked for the federal government at the United States Postal Service, retiring as a supervisor after many years of dedication. A proud veteran and patriot, he was also a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus.
After military service, Edward continued a life marked by dedication, humility, and quiet strength. He found joy in woodworking, books, and the simple satisfaction of hard work. Even in the face of a 29-year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease, he remained a symbol of endurance and grace.
Services will be held Saturday, October 11th at 11:00 AM at the Haisley Tribute Center, 2041 Southwest Bayshore Boulevard, Port Saint Lucie, Florida. All who knew and loved Edward are welcome to attend and honor a life of service and integrity.
