Edward Tyler Smith Sr, 91, passed away in Port St. Lucie at the Treasure Coast Hospice after a brief illness on April 15, 2023 surrounded by family.
Edward was born in Cohoes, NY to Edward S. Smith and Olive B. Tyler (Toby) Smith on September 26, 1931. He graduated from Cohoes High School with the class of 1949. After graduation he attended Siena College until joining the Navy, where he served proudly on the USS Midway as an Aerographer until his Honorable Discharge in 1955.
On July 3, 1952, he married Joan Duffney in Atlantic City. His marriage to Joan gave them 2 children, E. Tyler Jr and Toni Lynn. After moving to Watervliet, Ty, as he was called outside of work, founded a sheet metal business, Selby & Smith. Ty was also the Little League Manager of a league winning team.
Ty and Joan moved to Waterford and finally to the Cascades community in Port St. Lucie.
Ty made an impact on the many lives he touched playing golf and telling jokes.
He is survived by his beloved Joan; son E. Tyler Smith, Jr and his wife, Mary Severance of Port St. Lucie, FL; his daughter, Toni Lynn Jodlowski and her husband, Richard of St. Louis, MO. He will be terribly missed by sisters, Ginny and Judy. He also leaves behind, grandchildren, Todd, Erik and Jeremy (Brooke) Smith, Steven Jodlowski (Sarah) , Peter (Sarah) Jodlowski; great-grandchildren, Thomas, Tyler, Avery, and Taylor Smith as well as great-great grandchildren, Sophia and Lucas Smith. Many extended family members will also miss Ty greatly.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 from 2PM to 4PM with a Service to begin at 4PM at the Haisley Tribute Center 2041 SW Bayshore Blvd Port St. Lucie, Fl 34984.
