Edward W. Nicholson (Big Ed)

Born January 11, 1943, in Hartford, CT

Married Kimberly (Carrier) on August 25, 2001.

Passed March 15, 2023.

Ed unexpectedly left this earth leaving behind the love of his life of 24 years Kimberly (Carrier), his daughter Chelsea Veneziano of Ft. Pierce, FL; his granddaughters Samantha & Autumn Jones of Vero Beach, FL & his grandson Timothy Veneziano of Hebron, CT; his brother Richard Nicholson (CT), his sisters Linda Hinds of Lake Worth, FL & BJ McShane Fernandina Beach, FL; his in-laws Kenneth & Sandra (Gale) Carrier of Ft. Pierce, FL, and Garth & Kristine (Carrier) Galinat of South Glastonbury, CT, and many nieces and nephews.

Ed was predeceased by his parents Cornelius and Barbara (Brown) Nicholson.

Ed was born and raised in South Windsor, CT, attended Brown University in Rhode Island, and after he and Kim were married in 2001, moved to Ft. Pierce, FL in 2002 where they spent the last 21 years enjoying the Florida sunshine.

Ed was a dedicated member of the BPOE Elks club for 50 years.  Ed was a Past Exalted Ruler and a National Ritual Champion for the Manchester, CT Elks Lodge #1893.  He was a mentor and coach to many in the Elks and produced more ritual champions for lodges all over the New England area.  When he moved to Ft. Pierce, he coached the Ft. Pierce Elks Lodge #1520 for a few years helping them take a regional championship.

Ed was a huge fan of the UConn Huskies women's basketball team, the NY Giants, and the NY Yankees.  He loved to read and travel, but most of all, he loved playing with his grandchildren.

Ed was larger than life.  He loved people and never met a stranger.  If he didn't know you, he would come to you and tell you one or more of his corny jokes, then proceed to strike up a conversation, and by the time he left you, you were friends.

An Elks memorial service followed by a celebration of Ed's life will be held at the Haisley Funeral Home Reception Center, 1614 S. 31st Street, Fort Pierce, FL 34947 on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at 1:00 p.m.

Rest in peace, my sweet, sweet love.  The pipes have called you home.
