With deep sorrow and great love, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, Edna Ruth Strickmaker, on May 20, 2025 in Port St. Lucie, Florida, at the age of 96.
Born on January 30, 1929, in Yellow Creek Township, Columbiana County, Ohio, Edna was the cherished daughter of Earl Orin Clemens and Gladys (Carnes) Clemens. After graduating high school, she met the love of her life, Billy D. Strickmaker, while he was serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. They married on January 28, 1947, and shared 74 beautiful years together until Billy's passing in 2021.
Edna was the heart of our family—a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She is survived by her four children: Billy Jr. (Margit), Butch, Mike (Pam), and Hollie (Mike), as well as eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
She retired from the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company (A&P) and brought joy and laughter wherever she went. Known for her sharp wit and unforgettable stories—like the time she dropped a stink bomb in line at Disney World and laughed like a child—Edna’s humor and kindness knew no bounds. Her love for her family was unconditional and served as a guiding light for generations.
She and Billy shared a love for travel, exploring the United States and overseas, creating memories that will live on in the stories passed down by those who loved them. One of her greatest passions in life was bowling—a sport she embraced wholeheartedly for over 40 years. Whether in Canton, Ohio or Stuart, Florida, she could often be found at the lanes, joyfully participating in league play, sometimes bowling on two leagues at once. Her dedication and skill were evident in her many accomplishments, including an impressive 705 series game and several state championships that filled her home with trophies and medals, each one a testament to her talent and dedication. Bowling was more than a hobby for her; it was a cherished community, a source of joy, and a testament to her competitive spirit and perseverance.
Edna’s legacy is one of love, commitment, and trust—a foundation she and Billy built for their family that continues to flourish.
We take comfort in knowing she has been reunited with her one true love. Rest in peace, Mom. You are forever loved and will be deeply missed. You’ll never truly be gone—you’ll live on in our hearts always.
With all our love,Your Family
