Diane Linda Russell, born on September 11, 1946, in Huntington, New York, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025, in Eatonton, Georgia.
Diane was married to the love of her life, Clyde Lester Russell, Jr., on June 5, 1966. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with faith, family, and service to others.
She is survived by her loving family: her brother, Edward Jones (Sherry); sister, Mary Workman (Rick); sons, Brian Russell (Debbie), John Russell (Steffanie), and Edward Russell; as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Russell, and her parents, Edward and Virginia Jones (Jacobs).
Diane lived a life dedicated to caring for others. Early in her marriage, she served in a variety of roles on the military base and as a telephone operator while Clyde was in the Air Force. Later, she became a devoted stay-at-home mother, deeply involved in her children’s schools and Community United Methodist Church in Fort Pierce, Florida.
As her youngest child neared graduation, Diane pursued a new calling. She returned to college, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Nova University, and went on to teach multiple elementary grades at St. Anastasia Catholic School in Fort Pierce until her retirement. Her kindness, patience, and compassion touched countless young lives throughout her teaching career.
As a hobby, Diane enjoyed making and decorating wedding cakes, using her creativity and attention to detail to bring joy to others during their most special celebrations.
Faith was the cornerstone of Diane’s life. She was a longtime member of Community United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, supported youth programs, and volunteered in the church office. Later, she and Clyde converted to Catholicism and became dedicated members of St. Anastasia Catholic Church, where Diane faithfully served as a Eucharistic Minister and continued to volunteer in many parish activities.
In her later years, Diane faced both dementia and cancer with the same grace and strength she had shown throughout her life. Having lovingly cared for Clyde through his own battle with dementia, she understood the importance of compassion and dignity in every moment.
Her life was one of faith, devotion, and love for family—a legacy that will continue to shine brightly through all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Diane’s memory, to honor her courage and love.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, November 14, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Anastasia Catholic Church, 407 S 33rd St, Fort Pierce, FL 34947.
