Born in Pennsylvania in 1953, Denny moved to Florida with his parents and family in 1955 as they pursued opportunities in the construction industry, where the family would build strong roots and lasting memories.

Denny attended St. Anastasia Catholic School, Dan McCarty High School, and Indian River Community College. He studied electronics and drafting but ultimately found his true passion in carpentry and woodworking. In his younger years, he participated in several Soap Box Derby races and bowled alongside his father and brothers in Knights of Columbus bowling leagues and tournaments throughout the 1970s and early 1980s. He enjoyed boating, deep-sea fishing, riding his Harley, camping, woodworking, and flying as a licensed private pilot during the 1990s. He was a past member of the Knights of Columbus, Elks BPOE 1520, and Sons of the American Legion Post 39.
