David R. Monroe

February 7, 1964 — September 14, 2025

Port Saint Lucie

David R. Monroe, “Ray,” 61, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, passed away on September 14, 2025. He was born on February 7, 1964, in Miami, Florida. He later returned in life to Florida and built his career.

David was the treasured son of his loving mother, Ernesta Monroe of Florida, and his beloved father, David E. Monroe, and his wife, Jeanne K. Ivy Monroe, lovingly known as “California Mom,” of California. His parents’ love and guidance shaped the kind, giving man he became.

He was a devoted father to his cherished children: Zyah Bell and David (Ren) Monroe, both of Georgia, and Araisha Monroe of Florida. Being a dad was one of David’s greatest joys, and his children were truly the light of his life.

David shared a deep bond with his sisters, Celeste Monroe of Florida and Joni Hamilton and her husband, Dr. Clarence Hamilton II, of California. He was the proud uncle of his beautiful nieces, India Crosske of Florida, Kristien Helbing of California, and Kori Biages of Washington, D.C.; and his beloved nephews, Brive Crosske of Florida and Clarence Hamilton III of Nevada. His love for family extended to countless uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends, all of whom he cherished and who cherished him in return.

He was preceded in death by Daniel Henry Fields, Fannie Mac Fields, Ernesto Cruz, and Pascula Garcia.

David graduated from Crenshaw High School in 1982 and went on to earn his A.S. in Nursing from Orange County Community College in Middletown, New York. He found his calling as a nurse with Fresenius Kidney Care in Stuart, Florida, where he dedicated himself to his patients with tireless compassion, treating each one as family. His coworkers and patients alike admired his kindness, patience, and the joy he brought into even the most difficult days.

Outside of his career, David was full of life and passions. He loved casting a line while fishing, DJing and filling a room with music, cheering for his favorite football games, and traveling to new places. He had a gift for laughter and storytelling that brought people together, and he never missed a chance to make others feel loved and cared for.

David’s memory will live on through the love he gave so freely, the patients whose lives he touched, and the family and friends who will forever carry his spirit in their hearts. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

A gathering will be held at Haisley Tribute Center, 2041 S.W. Bayshore Boulevard, Port Saint Lucie, Florida, 34984 on Friday, October 3rd from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, with a service at 2:00 PM. All who loved and cared for David are encouraged to come celebrate his life and memory.
