Clive Orville Wright passed peacefully and was received by our Lord on June 18, 2025. He was 85 years old.
Clive was born in Kingston, Jamaica, on January 21, 1940, to Ivan and Rosita Wright. He attended Wolmer’s Boys’ School in Kingston and Farnham Boys Catholic Boarding School in Montreal, Quebec. After returning to Jamaica, he immigrated to New York on December 13, 1952, at the age of 12. He completed high school in Hempstead, New York.
Clive joined the U.S. Army Reserves. He also earned his B.A. from Lincoln University and began his career working for the Boeing Company in Washington, D.C. He returned to New York and worked briefly at IBM as a computer operator before pursuing a teaching certificate at Flushing College. He taught biology and history at Central Islip High School and later advanced to a role with the New York State Education Department as a program manager, working in Albany, Long Island, and New York City. He continued his studies and earned a Master’s degree from Adelphi University.
Clive married Patricia Crampton, and they had a daughter, Kimberly. He later married Marcia Haughton and they had three children: Heather, Rachel, and Brian. In 1993 the family moved from Ronkonkoma, NY to Coral Springs, FL, where Clive worked as a special education teacher in Palm Beach County and later as a district supervisor of migrant education. After 33 years of marriage, Marcia passed away in 2004. Clive and his son Brian then spent two years in Wickenburg, Arizona, before returning to South Florida.
In 2009, Clive married Lorna Whorms. They shared a deep faith in Christ and a love for the arts and entertainment. A gifted artist, Clive continued to develop his talents throughout his life, studying at the Vero Beach Museum, and under the mentorship of the renowned Cuban artist Jesús Rivera. Clive was also a member of the Fort Pierce Jazz Society.
Clive is survived by his beloved wife, Lorna Whorms-Wright of Port St. Lucie, FL; his sister, Barbara Woodbine of Palm Bay, FL; and his four children and their families:· Kimberly (Jason) Wright-Johns and grandchildren Ethan and Emerson of Bloomfield, NJ· Heather (Dustin) Johnson of Alpharetta, GA· Rachel (Chuck) Flynn and grandchildren Gianna and Cristina of Tampa, FL· Brian Wright of Port St. Lucie, FL.
Clive's life was marked by faith, family, education, service, and creativity. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the abundant love he shared.
A visitation for Mr. Wright will be held at Haisley Tribute Center at 2041 SW Bayshore Blvd., Port St. Lucie, FL 34984 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on July 2nd, 2025. A separate visitation, as well as a funeral service will be the following day, July 3rd, 2025 at Haisley Tribute Center at 2041 SW Bayshore Blvd., Port St. Lucie, FL 34984. Visitation begins at 10:00am,and the funeral service will follow at 11:00am.
