Charlie Ralph Hurst, 89, died April 7, 2026 in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Mr. Hurst was born on June 25, 1936 in Moultrie, Georgia to Sam and Eva Hurst. He graduated from high school in 1954 and went to college where he earned a degree in Business Management.

In 1957,he enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Germany, where he met Helene Korb. In 1959, he married Helene and sent her to his home in Doerun, GA until he was able to return home. In 1963, he was Honorably discharged, and began work at W.T. Grant's where he became a Store Manager. After a successful career of 13 years, he worked at several other retailers eventually retiring from Family Dollar in 2007. Charles and Helene had 4 Children, Michael, Kay, Eric and Chris.

In 1990, while living in Lanette, Alabama, he met Linda Faye Sanders. They got married, bought a house and were together until her passing in 2014. He was very popular in the community and was known as "Mr Family Dollar".

In 2015, he relocated to Ft Pierce, Florida, where from 2019 to 2025, he served as the Resident President of Sandgate Gardens Nursing and Rehab Center in Ft Pierce. He was very popular with the staff and will be missed.

He loved gardening and took great pride in growing vegetables. Charlie also enjoyed camping and barbequing, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family.

Survivors include his sons, Michael Hurst of Fort Pierce, Florida, Stephen Eric Hurst of Sebastian, Florida, and Hans Christopher Hurst of Orlando, Florida; daughter, Theresa Kay Curren of Port St. Lucie, Florida; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; former wife, Helene Hurst of Port St. Lucie, Florida; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Millard Hurst, Heywood Hurst, Ronald Hurst, and Clyde Hurst; his sisters, Estelle Hurst and Margaret Smith; and his parents, Sam and Lois Hurst.
